What is Blammo!?

—

Blammo! is an evolving cooperative of talented collaborators. This bloggo documents a project by Blammo Build! with contributing members Jake Labarre, Travis Anderson and Nate Lambdin.

Jake Blammo!
JB grew up a Minnesota boy with a loquacious vocabulary and an insatiable thirst for mathematics. His interest in the English language led to become the foremost expert on obscure three letter words and to this day will surprise and delight many an ear. At age 12 Jake Blammo took his lexicon on the road and won 17 uncontested international Scrabble Championships. Retiring from his world scrabble domination at age 20, Jake Blammo headed west to Seattle and transformed his wordsmithing into design/build prowess. Today, he leads the Blammo Institute down avenues the built environment can hardly fathom. Blowing the minds of onlookers with each swing of his hammer and transgressing spatial clarity. A University of Washington M. Arch candidate Jake Blammo believes in the power of community, collaboration and to provide a noble shelter for all.

Travis Blammo!
TB is always on the verge (near rockstar and almost artstar) and has been in all the right places at all the right times. While working for artist Kiki Smith in New York he had a little chat with Lou Reed on the tele… and where did that lead him? Blammo! Architecture Grad School in Seattle (I guess he had had it with celebrityship; lucky for us, Lou put him over the edge.) Now-a-days, Travis is co-lead on one of Blammo!’s summer-build ventures, and with the full-throttle attitude of his alter-ego “Burt-Blammo!” there is no fear of any smokies, nor any-thing at all for that matter, getting in the way of his razor-sharp construction instincts. With an effortless swagger and sensitive bravado sometimes it is hard to tell whether Travis Blammo! is on a jobsite building America, or simply enjoying some time in the great outdoors.

Nate Blammo!

Nate hails from the Lynchburg, VA, home of the late Jerry Falwell.  Naturally this early influence led to a life of rock music and graphic design.  But when push came to shove, “Slick” knew that there was more for him to discover.  First to the Northwest, then Spain, Nate went on a series of vision quests which opened his eyes to new music, new fonts, and a whole new world of architecture, high-style cocktail parties, and Swedish hotdogs (korvs).  Emboldened by his new found inspirations, Nate looked to the future and saw many things, life, love, and Blammo.  As a key member of Blammo, Nate feels stronger, wiser, and more patriotic!
